My approach

Therapy in nature with Dancing Clay offers a different kind of healing: calm, clarity and conversation, held in the open air. Led by Phil Collier — a registered mental health nurse and accredited Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner — our sessions blend evidence-based talking therapy with the restorative benefits of natural settings across Cornwall.

Why choose therapy in nature?

  • Reduced anxiety and stress: Time outdoors lowers cortisol and quiets the racing mind, making it easier to engage in meaningful reflection and change.

  • Greater emotional regulation: Natural environments help people feel safer and more grounded, supporting deeper therapeutic work.

  • Improved focus and insight: Fresh air and gentle movement reduce rumination and encourage new perspectives.

  • Physical wellbeing alongside mental health: Walking and being active in green spaces supports sleep, mood and overall resilience.

What I offer

  • Tailored one-to-one sessions: Practical, goal-focused therapy delivered in local natural spaces or online if preferred.

  • Short-term programmes: Structured support for anxiety, low mood, stress management and life transitions, drawing on CBT and other proven approaches.

  • Flexible delivery: Outdoor sessions for those who benefit from movement and open air, online therapy for convenience or when weather prevents meeting outdoors.

What makes Dancing Clay different

  • Professional clinical background: Phil brings nursing experience and PWP training, combining clinical rigour with a compassionate, person-centred approach.

  • Cornwall-based expertise: We use familiar local landscapes to anchor sessions in a safe, accessible way.

  • Practical, measurable outcomes: Work is focused on building coping skills, reducing symptoms and creating sustainable change.

How a session works

  • We start with an initial assessment to identify goals and agree a plan.

  • Sessions typically involve brief walking or sitting in nature, reflective conversation and practical exercises to practise between meetings.

  • Progress is reviewed regularly so therapy remains relevant and outcome-focused.

Who benefits

  • People feeling anxious, low or overwhelmed

  • Those experiencing stress, burnout or difficulty with change

  • Anyone who finds talking indoors difficult and prefers movement and open spaces

  • Individuals seeking a short-term, skills-based approach to improve day-to-day functioning
